Architecture Day

15 June 2019

At Bureau Europa, the annual Architecture Day is all about collective private commissioning (CPO). This form of building construction, in which future residents become the project developers, is gaining popularity. But what does it involve?

Our programme from 11.00 to 16.00 is as follows:

11.00: opening by Saskia van Stein, followed by two lectures by architects Mathieu Bruls and Rik Martens about their experiences with CPO based on their respective projects De Sphinxtuin and Les Mouleurs.

12.00: debate, moderated by Saskia van Stein, about the strengths, weaknesses, possibilities, and pitfalls of CPO, with architects and future residents of the apartment complexes on the Maagdendries.

13.00: Opportunity to visit the Sphinxtuin construction site. For this, we refer you to the Infocentrum Belvédère, who will provide you with a mapped-out route. This is part of the programme of Bouwend Nederland in the context of the Dag van de Bouw (Day of Construction).

14.00: architects Marc and Nicole Maurer of Maurer United Architects talk about developments in the Sphinxkwartier, where the cultural redevelopment of old industrial heritage takes place alongside CPO projects. You will then be given a tour of the new Muziekgieterij, which will be completed this year.

If you would like to participate in one or more these activities, please register via info@bureau-europa.nl, stating ‘Dag van de Architectuur’, and indicate which parts of the programme you’d like to attend.
