pop-up exhibition a Home away from Home

In the autumn of 2015, 366 architects and designers responded to a call from Floris van Alkemade, the state architect, and Caroline Schippers (COA) for new, flexible housing solutions to provide suitable temporary homes for asylum seekers. This pop-up exhibition shows a selection of the best entries.

On June 29, the winners were announced during a conference at Het Nieuwe Instituut:

• New Premises, New Neighbours, New Harvest – Haiko Meijer/Onix UK

• Evolutionary Wooden Buildings – Jurrian Knijtijzer/Finch Building B.V.

• Comfort City/The Interstice – Anneloes de Koff/Pieter Stoutjesdijk

• Hotel Nice to Meet You – Rik Tuithof/studio Rik Tuithof

• Solar Cabin/Roof Under the Sun – Bram Zondag/Arjan de Nooijer

• RE-settle – René van Zuuk/René van Zuuk Architekten BV

Six other entries received honourable mention.

From 20 July, several entries are shown at Bureau Europa during a ten-day pop-up exhibition.
