Bureau Europa and NOTO want to provide opportunities for the Euregio’s artistic talent, helping them to further their careers by creating cultural networks. Additionally, Meet the Maker is the ideal concept to grasp the cultural business climate, and discovering what we can learn from each other from the viewpoint of different disciplines. For the first edition, eight practitioners from the visual arts, architecture, dance, graphic design, and photography were asked to choose and explain one work from their oeuvre.

For this special event, Bureau Europa opens its doors on 29 November from 11:00 to 17:00, when visitors can see the works and get acquainted with the participants and the stories behind the pieces.
After the daylong exhibition, the artists and professionals will convene in an informal setting. For this event, a select group of curators, collectors, and policy makers are invited from the cultural field. During the evening, the artists give short presentations, after which there is an informal dinner to further the discussion. The goal is to develop sustainable partnerships and networks. An edition of Meet the Maker will take place every six months.
Meet the Maker compliments Bureau Europa’s philosophy of being a network organisation and providing a setting for presentations and exhibitions in the field of architecture and design. With projects like Imagined Stories, Frontenpark, The Great Indoors, and Adopt a Bee, we cooperate with other institutions in the city, bringing the public and professionals together. The outlook of these cultural institutions is primarily focused on Europe and the Euregio, the related social and community agenda, and the role designers play within this.
