Theme: “The Solidary Society”
When disaster strikes, we can shut the windows and doors and wait by the emergency radio for instructions. Or we can invest - starting now - in a resilient living environment made up of people you can rely on, places where people enjoy gathering together, and structures that contribute to equal opportunities and rights. All these places are designed: by architects, landscape architects, urban planners, and by communities themselves. June is Architecture Month. During the weekend of 13 and 14 June 2026, you can explore public spaces, cultural venues, housing associations, commons, and places for learning, recovery, work, and living throughout the country.
With the theme The Solidary Society, the 2026 Architecture Day focuses on shaping collective spaces. Sports clubs, community gardens, churches, schools, swimming pools - all those places where you meet people you did not know before, people who do not have to be your friends, but whom you know you can turn to when you need someone. Because only when you stand up for someone else’s rights, happiness, or safety, can you trust that someone will do the same for you.
Be surprised by open houses in transformed buildings, a city walk through green spaces, and renewed projects that offer insight into Maastricht’s changing urban environment. Discover how architecture contributes to a more sustainable, greener, and more resilient city.
The organization of Architecture Day in Maastricht is a collaboration between Topos Architecture Centre, the Municipality of Maastricht, Bureau Europa, and LAC.
