When disaster strikes, we can shut our windows and doors and wait by the emergency radio for instructions. Or we can (already now) invest in a resilient living environment made up of people you can rely on, places where you enjoy gathering together, and structures that contribute to equal opportunities and rights. All of these places are designed—by (landscape) architects and urban planners, as well as by communities.

June is Architecture Month. But during the weekend of June 13 and 14, 2026, you can explore public spaces, cultural venues, housing associations, commons, and places for learning, recovery, work, or living throughout the country.

With the theme The Solidary Society, Architecture Day 2026 focuses on shaping collective spaces. Sports clubs, community gardens, churches, schools, swimming pools - all those places where you encounter people you didn’t know before, who don’t have to be your friends, but whom you can turn to when you need someone. Because it’s only when you stand up for someone else’s rights, happiness, or safety that you know someone will do the same for you.
