introduce the hosting exhibition and venue.

TTT Digital Exhibition Launch: opening of the digital exhibition containing
the 42 site-specific artworks that have been created within the framework of
TTT.

TTT Atlas Presentation: Official unveiling and presentation of the TTT Atlas
by Marlies and Remy.

Official Handover of the completed atlas to guest honorary Matthias Kindel
(Deputy Director of EGTC Euregio Meuse-Rhine).

Closing Speech: Brief addresses by Matthias Kindel on the vital importance
of culture and creative practices in addressing major ecological and societal
challenges.

Workshop: Mounting Mountains by Dr. Marlies Vermeulen & Remy Kroese
(Institute of Cartopology).

A hands-on workshop about how our value systems transform environmental disasters into landmarks, forcing us to ask: when does soil become surplus, when does surplus become sacred ground, and who gets to decide?

Since December 2025, the garden of the Institute of Cartopology in Vaals has been home to Waste Peak: sixty cubic metres of soil that became waste the moment it was dug out for a retention pond. Nothing about the soil changed—only its label. Around the Vaalserberg, such mountains abound: the Wilhelminaberg, the Observant, the ever-growing Sophienhöhe. All began as surplus material from extraction, somewhere between disaster and landscape. In this workshop we trace how value shifts depending on where soil happens to be, and ask when a pile of earth becomes a mountain, when surplus becomes landmark, and who decides what counts as landscape worth preserving. Through encounters with objects and live images, we explore four lessons in making extraction bearable: to encounter, measure, extract, claim, and witness: gestures that transform a landscape into a relationship.
