The book meticulously traces the creation of millionaire bachelor Charles de Beistegui’s pent-house on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Everything in this modernist apartment and its alienating surreal interior was about entertainment: this was no machine à habiter, but a machine à amuser.
The evening opens at 7:00 PM with a short presentation by author Wim van den Bergh, followed by a moderated discussion about the book, the architecture of Le Corbusier and the role of the eccentric client Charles de Beistegui. Afterwards we will have an informal drink.
