Voyage No 1: Tour de Limbourg (B) CANCELLED

14 March 2020
After the Voyage Votage launch on 7 March 2020, its pilot event takes place for a closed public on Saturday 14 March. We shall visit, with representatives from Maastricht’s cultural field, colleagues in Belgian Limburg.

Maastricht: Bureau Europa and Marres
The programme begins at Bureau Europa, where director Floor van Spaendonck launches the Voyage Voyage programme and shows a small group around the current exhibition, ‘Landscape as Cult. A different view of our culture’. This exhibition informs the rest of the day’s content. After Bureau Europa, we shall make a short stop at Marres, House for Contemporary Culture, for a quick visit to the exhibition Yes, Please!

Genk: Labiomista
The group continues to Genk to visit Labiomista, an evolving artwork about the mix of life. Situated on the foundations of Genk’s mining past and the old Zwartberg zoo, Labiomista is a unique vision of artist Koen Vanmechelen’s constantly growing work, which combines culture, nature, order, and chaos. A small lunch follows the tour.

Hasselt: Z33
Mid-afternoon, we head to Hasselt for the opening of the new Z33 building with no less than three exhibitions. One of them is Birds of a Feather – Currents #7, an annual group show of recent graduates from Belgium, West Germany, and the southern Netherlands. Z33 also organises artist talks with Marres, House for Contemporary Culture, and there are short exhibition tours.

After coffee and cake, we leave for Maastricht at 18.00.

The Dutch Embassy in Brussels supports this pilot edition of Voyage Voyage.

Date: Saturday 14 March 2020, 10.00 – 18.00
Start point: Bureau Europa, platform for architecture and design
Please note: this inaugural Voyage Voyage event is for invitees only. The rest of the Voyage Voyage programme is open to the public.
