‘THUIS’ is the title of an installation by Christoph Seyferth, which is presented alongside the work of Dom van der Laan. The work of this self-taught designer is diverse; he designed his own house in Maastricht, designed sports eyewear for Adidas and realized several interiors and furniture designs.

This installation is a secular version of a monastery and must be understood as a sketch, a work in progress, which is continually being refined by Christoph Seyferth. A bed, a table, a chair, a wooden bench, a high and a low cupboard, a peg and a lamp and a flexible wall form both the private world where one can retreat and the place from which the world can be entered.

In ‘THUIS’, beauty is the result of functionality, efficiency and flexibility. Contrary to the interior of a monastery, this furniture has a certain degree of comfort. The luxury lies in the simple, elegant lines, the refinement of detail and the durability of each product. During its presentation, the temporary home of Seyferth continuous to change in setup, because it has a direct relation to the world and literally opens up to it.
