The city of Maastricht has a history of various art manifestations and fairs. These manifestations provide a platform for professional artists and designers, as well as amateur artists, to present their work—sometimes in collaboration with institutions in and around the city. In recent years, many of these events have disappeared, leaving many makers, artists, and designers without the opportunity to share their practice with a broad audience and the city itself. As a result, many have sought opportunities outside the province and even outside Maastricht to present their work and engage in dialogue with residents, art enthusiasts, and their surroundings.
To make the work of talented makers visible and offer them the opportunity to present themselves in Maastricht, we are organizing Harvest in collaboration with Bureau Europa—a multi-day annual art and design manifestation. Harvest brings together artists and designers working in contemporary visual art, design, and cross-disciplinary practices, connecting them with the city, its residents, and visitors. For this first edition, the work of Cas Driessen, Ted Noten, and Jeroen Wand will be presented at Bureau Europa, while various locations in the city center will host encounters with makers and their work under the banner Meet the Maker.
Harvest is an initiative of Editions in collaboration with Fundamentals, a foundation for creative guidance + connection. This agency supports makers by leveraging a broad and diverse network of experts, artists, designers, and other creative enterprises to help develop their artistic practice and/or business.
