Debates: Architecture in Times of Crisis

Parallel to exhibition 'Rien ne va Plus' the building industry and the underlying economic, social and cultural mechanisms were discussed.

The first debate was held by national and international architects. How do they experience the crisis in architecture, what are the differences and similarities and which solutions do they envisage?  

Debate led by Hans Ibelings (A10, new european architecture) with: Charles Bessard (Powerhouse Company, Rotterdam/Kopenhagen), Jo Coenen (Jo Coenen & Co, Maastricht/Amsterdam/Esch-sur-Alzette/Berlijn/Milaan), Julien De Smedt (JDS Architects, Brussel/Kopenhagen/Oslo), Pierre Hebbelinck (Atelier D'Architecture P. Hebbelinck S.A., Luik), Andre Kempe (Atelier Kempe Thill, Rotterdam), Nanne de Ru (Powerhouse Company, Rotterdam/Kopenhagen), Jeroen van Schooten (Meyer en Van Schooten Architecten BV, Amsterdam).

The second debate was held by real estate and area developers, urban developers and architects working in the Netherlands and abroad on the same subject. Preliminary to the debate, Nanne de Ru of Powerhouse Company gave a tour of the exhibition.
