In 2025, the Céramique neighbourhood in Maastricht exists 25 years. Once the site of the Sphinx factory, it’s now a lively residential and business area with unique buildings designed by architects from the Netherlands and abroad, under the leadership of architect Jo Coenen.
On May 25, 2025, this wonderful anniversary was celebrated in the neighborhood. Photographer Sarina Uilenberg contributed with a photo exhibition: portraits and stories of 25 different residents, each with one of the buildings in the background. In this way, a double portrait of the neighborhood emerges. She is now presenting a selection of these portraits at Bureau Europa.
It has become a reflection of the residents—so in addition to mostly retirees, younger people also have their say, including locals from Maastricht and expats, people who have lived here for many years, as well as those who just moved in last year, and so on.
